Captique, Oh God not another dermal filler

There are so many dermal fillers; it is hard to keep up. One thing I learnt in medicine- if there is too many or too much of one thing- that means nothing works. This principle applies a lot to cosmetic medicine.

In the past, many dermal fillers were made from collagen and allergic reactions were quite common. Soon, this led to development of non-collagen dermal fillers. One of these is Captique

What is captique made from?

Captique is a non-animal based hyaluronic acid dermal filler that is widely used in cosmetic surgery. The great advantage of Captique is that because it is non animal based, it does not require any pretesting prior to use. The injections can be performed on the first consultation visit.

What is captique used to treat?

Captique can be used to erase fine lines, erase wrinkles and even plump-up lips.

How are injections with captique performed?

Captique is an outpatient procedure done in a clinic. The skin is washed and then Captique is injected with a very fine needle.

Are the injections painful?

Yes, they are painful. Because the injections are slightly painful, the therapist may apply a topical local anesthetic at least 10 minutes prior to the procedure. When injected, Captique easily integrates into the tissues and replaces the lost hyaluronic acid. Once injected captique provides tissue cushioning from trauma, fills up the space and hydrates skin. The eventual result is skin which appears radiant, smooth, and beautiful.
