Cosmelan: part 2

Where does one learn how to use cosmelan?

The initial Cosmelan 1 treatment is usually done at a spa. The skin is cleaned to remove all the oils and dead skin. Following the cleansing, the skin is thoroughly dried and then Cosmelan 1 is applied and left for 4-6 hours. In most cases, one can go home with the Cosmelan mask. Once the application time is completed, the mask is washed. Following this, the mesoesthetic hydrating cream is applied. By the way, you have to pay to learn how to apply the lotion on your face- costs range from $20-$100. Then, there is additional cost of the product itself.

For Cosmelan to work well, maintenance treatment with Cosmelan 2 have to be carried out. During the initial 2 weeks, the cream is applied 1-3 times a day as a mask and then on a daily basis. For the best result Cosmelan 2 must be applied regularly.

When does one see results?

Most people start to see some fading of skin lesions at end of 2 weeks. The skin also takes on a polished and radiant look. The maximum cosmetic benefit of a younger and shiny looking skin appears at around 6-8 weeks.

Are there any side effects with cosmelan?

Because the acids act as peeling agents, most people will develop redness of skin, others will develop a sensation of dry itchy skin or a slight burning. All these symptoms are mild and usually disappear with time. Once superficial layers of skin are shed and new skin is replaced by younger looking skin.

Cosmelan is in essence a chemical peel, and hence it must never be combined with other chemical peels, otherwise one risks causing severe skin damage.
